On 14th February 2026, youth with disabilities established a Youth Network representing all types of disabilities at the office of the Nation Forum of Women with Disabilities (NFWD).

The event was conducted as a hybrid meeting, allowing participants to join both physically at the NFWD office and virtually through Zoom. This approach ensured accessibility and broader participation, reflecting the commitment to inclusion and equal representation.

The newly formed Youth Network serves as a collective platform for young persons with diverse disabilities to collaborate, advocate, and engage in social, civic, and community development initiatives. By representing all types of disabilities, the network promotes unity, leadership development, and inclusive decision-making.

NFWD facilitated and supported the establishment of this Youth Network and remains committed to strengthening its capacity through mentorship, leadership training, and ongoing institutional support. The organization will continue to stand alongside these young leaders to ensure the network grows into a strong, sustainable, and impactful movement.

This milestone marks an important step toward empowering youth with disabilities as active leaders and changemakers in Sri Lanka.
