Chairperson’s Message
I am pleased to announce the establishment of the Nation Forum of Women with Disabilities, a groundbreaking initiative addressing the critical subject of disability rights. Globally, the narrative on the lives of the 1.3 billion individuals with disabilities has transformed, and in Sri Lanka, where diversity is celebrated, the disabled community comprises 8.7% of the population. Our mission is to systematically address the challenges faced by women with disabilities, marking the first initiative of its kind in Sri Lanka.
The launch signifies a pioneering effort aimed at enhancing the quality of life for thousands of women with disabilities, outnumbering their male counterparts in Sri Lanka. We invite support to make a meaningful impact, striving towards a more inclusive and empowering society, leveraging global best practices for positive change. Thank you for your attention and anticipated collaboration.
