Today is March 8, 2024, International Women’s Day. On behalf of the Nation Forum of Women with Disabilities, I salute all women as its President.
When we studied the 2012 Census as an organization representing women with disabilities, we found that 57% of the population with disabilities were women. This community comprises more than ten lakh individuals, with many not actively participating in economic processes.
Various social and economic barriers affect this community. Social barriers encompass negative attitudes towards this community, while environmental barriers hinder communication and access. Consequently, many of these women have become dependent, impeding their independence.
To address these challenges, our organization is implementing various programs to empower this community, focusing on developing both knowledge and sports skills. I invite you all to join hands with us in successfully advancing this cause.
